MarkLogic, more than an XML database, a WEB Server
MarkLogic: all the news
It has been more than 10 years since the first version of MarkLogic was released.
A few months ago, version 6 was released, and it is no less important. An overview of the new features:
- Free use in production! ... with some limitations, however, in terms of infrastructure
- New APIs: Java API (more affordable than Java XCC) and REST API
- Native JSON support with a new XQuery library
- New form of indexing based on XPaths
- Fast and efficient import/export tool: MarkLogic Content Pump
MarkLogic for BigData
While some see it as a free, fast, modern server, others think of it as a reliable, high-performance and secure BigData.
This NoSQL database natively manages XML and queries in XQuery, a language that MarkLogic did not hesitate to extend with more than adequate libraries.
MarkLogic facilitates the work of web application developers by providing features used in interfaces such as :
- auto-completion,
- search by facet, by synonym,
- the display of highlighted and contextualised results.
The Web server allows those who wish to do so to free themselves from another application server. You can then generate your web interfaces via XQuery, and using your favourite Javascript and CSS libraries. Security and user role management within MarkLogic make the server complete.
