How did the Pharmacy Monitor enter the era of information intelligence?

Discover the digital transition of a scientific and professional news media outlet.

As the press undergoes a profound digital transformation, specialized news media are facing a variety of challenges. In the medical sector, these include ensuring the reliability of content, maintaining credibility in a scientific field, and complying with strict regulatory requirements.

The Moniteur des Pharmacies has therefore embarked on an ambitious digital transformation to respond to changing practices. Owned by Europa Group, it is a media outlet aimed at pharmacy professionals, relaying and analyzing industry news while highlighting new challenges.

Requirements

Le Moniteur des Pharmacies called on ContentSide to assist with its digital transition in order toimprove internal networking andthe user experience offered on its website.

Le Moniteur des Pharmacies had four main objectives:

  • Acquire new readers and subscribers
  • Build subscriber loyalty by offering them an enjoyable and meaningful experience
  • Knowing and engaging your audiences
  • Enriching the indexing of your content

The monthly production flow volume is approximately 1,000 items.

To achieve this, ContentSide proposedautomating the categorization of articles; extracting industry-specific keywords from the content of the archives in order to index it using dictionaries built with these keywords; and automatically linking articles that are similar from a semantic point of view.

ContentSide solutions

Le Moniteur des Pharmacies uses an editorial system called SWYP, to which  Semantic Platform, ContentSide's solution, is natively integrated.

This solution detects keywords in content, automates the sorting of articles into existing categories, and automatically suggests links to related articles.

Semantic Platform's AI services were also used to enrich hundreds of thousands of old articles through these categorization and indexing functions using industry-specific keywords.

Semantic Platform has enabled automatic indexing of articles by creating a simple process for writers. With a single click, they can select the metadata of their choice that will be useful for distributing their article.

Result: keywords are associated with each article, allowing those that are indexed in the same way to be linked together.

What were the results?

  • Greater consistency in the content classified under each heading,
  • Detecting keywords that enrich internal linking and improve content identification by users.
  • A suggestion for links to further reading that improves the quality of internal linking and navigation consistency.

“One of the successes of this project is the time it takes journalists to post their articles online with the right tags and the right articles in sequence, which saves time,”said Camille Striffling during our workshop at Presse et Médias au Futur. Watch the replay online.
